Order: Psittaciformes | Family: Psittacidae
Common names: Perico casisucio, Brown-throated Parakeet
Scientific name: Eupsittula pertinax
Conservation status: Least concern (LC)
Best season for brown – throated parakeet: All year round
Characteristics
It is medium-sized: 17 to 20 cm, and has green, blue, yellow, and red-orange colors, with little sexual dimorphism, which is quite similar to that of the budgerigar.

Distribution
It is widely found in forests, savannas, and shrublands in northern South America, including Colombia, Venezuela, the Guianas, the ABC islands in the Dutch Antilles, and northern Brazil (mainly the Río Negro/Branco region). Another disjunct population is found in southern Central America, in Panama and Costa Rica.
Hábitat
Some seasonal movements to wetter areas occur during the drier months, such as in the Santa Marta region of Colombia. In Aragua, Venezuela, the highest numbers are seen from May to September, likely in response to the corn and sorghum harvest, with birds moving from November to April to the foothill forests and savannas to breed.
