Discover Colombia’s Eastern Plains with Us

El Cimarron

Overview

Wildlife safari and Horseback riding in the most antique nature reserve and jaguar conservation area.

La Aurora is the oldest and most renowned nature reserve in the region, covering over 20,000 hectares. This vast reserve serves as a functioning cattle ranch, with the owners committed to protecting all the wildlife on their land, especially the jaguar, despite it being a threat to their calves. As a result, La Aurora offers one of the best opportunities to spot a jaguar in Colombia, particularly during the dry season from December to March.

Visitors can enjoy thrilling jeep safaris to observe wildlife, ranging from capybaras and deer to caimans, monkeys, and countless bird species, or explore the reserve on horseback while learning about cattle ranching. Additionally, the ranchers who manage the different farms are talented musicians, often providing a special musical performance.
